I made it for him because we had no one give him a baby quilt or afghan when he was born (and Jessie received 3 quilts and 7 afghans all handmade). So I made it for him so he would have at least 1. Everyone gave us boy clothes instead, since all we had was pink.
So leftover firetruck fabric from Tyler's quilt:

will be turned into at least 2 baby quilts;
And this John Deere fabric will turn into a quilt similar to this one (since no one in our house is a John Deere fan):

Of course, I then had to hunt through my stash for fabric for quilts for the little girls being born:

The only reason I'm thinking of this now (when I should be thinking Christmas presents and finishing up what is already started and almost done) is 1 of the showers is next weekend:)

Good luck with those! I know they will look great. Your daughter was blessed with that many handmade gifts, wow!
Hi!
I hope you don't mind me asking but what size squares are you using? I want to do one like that! Thanks for the information. Nancy
I love it! I love the fabrics for all of the quilts. These will be very special gifts. Lucky moms & babies! :)
handmade things are wonderful. The mother's are so lucky to have you as a friend.
Thanks everyone. For the firetruck baby blanket - I used 6 inch squares. The one I made for Tyler was 4 1/2" squares, the John Deere one I cut the prints into 3 1/2" squares - hope this helps anyone who wants to make one. I'm not sure what size they end up - that depends on how much fabric I have:)

i love making quilts for babies...it's great that these babies are getting something handmade by you. have fun!
Beautiful! As always! :)
oh, love the quilts!
I just used a regular pants pattern for the pants, and cut the leg two inches wider, (the crotch will be a bit more roomy too, but they are so comfy!)
Hi kris, I think the idea of baby quilts, especially ones that are made to be USED is wonderful. I can't think of a better gift for a new baby. And using parts of Tylers, etc. is a great recycling and green idea! Good for you!! Keep up the good work. Hugs, Finn
