And she gave up walking about a week ago. Stubborn.
So we borrowed a cart, hooked it to a tractor and away we went.
What do you know.....no pulling, no fighting, no jumping. Jessie untied her when we were done and walked her into the barn. Calm as could be. Much nicer to her than us tugging on her and fighting her (or her managing to pull away from us and running and getting hurt). We thought about using the hitch on the truck like others do, but you can't see them behind you and the tractor goes slower.
Guess we are now ready for fair with everyone walking nicely. I see one of these carts in our future......
Have a great Labor Day everyone!!! We will be knee deep in clipping cattle, clipping the pig and bidding on a replacement heifer for one of the heifers we brought last year, who is unbreedable:)
It's my parents anniversary tomorrow - so Mom and Dad - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I would never have thought of using the tractor to walk the cow! It seems to work beautifully. Have fun this weekend and I hope the new heifer you pick out is perfect.:)
Happy anniversary to your mom and dad. Hope you have a wonderful long weekend.
Now that's funny! And oh so clever.

You are the thinking one. Glad she is walking again.
Good luck at the fair.
Who was it that said..."for every problem, there is a solution"
no, it's good old fashioned horse sense! right?
I entered your Mom's givaway, any hints on the answer? tee hee
GOOD LUCK!! I thought yours was last week (with ours).
So glad she's walking again! I'll have to remember the cart, and will be looking for more tips for next year. ;)
Happy Anniversary to your parents! I hope they had a nice one.
Sorry, I just don't have a comment about the calf, not walking and the tractor. Though at first I thought maybe she was sick or lame or something and that is what you were talking about! Glad it isn't that!
