Cold

It's been cold here. I know mid teens/low twenties isn't cold for some of you, but for me, it is pure torture!

Water hydrants were freezing on a daily basis while I was off work the last two weeks of the year. Fortunately, some heat tape took care of that before we headed back to PA last weekend so that the guys doing our chores didn't have to go through what I went through every day (haul out the torpedo heater, plug it in, wait for it to fire up and thaw out the hydrant, and move onto the next one - mostly, unfreeze all 3 hydrants every. single. day).

We are expecting a storm starting sometime this afternoon and running through tomorrow. They are saying a possibility of 11 inches. I'm hoping for more like 25 - just so I can be snowed in and stay home. And if the electric goes out - all the better in my book!

I've been cleaning and decluttering. You can't tell it by my fabric stash:

Or my yarn stash:

But I have a plan. I'm not buying any new fabric or yarn until all of this is used up. I have 6 quilts that are half done - bed sized quilts. Those are going to get done too. And if I use all my yarn and fabric, I'll have a terrific start on next years Christmas presents and probably about 8 new sweaters for me!

I've just about finished my PIF gifts from last summer. Look for them in the mail sometime next week ladies.

Christmas decorations are slowly coming down here and we are getting ready to start installing new cabinets in our laundry room and kitchen. We are doing this in phases so that it's not a huge strain on our budget - just a minor one. I'm not one for eating Kraft macaroni and cheese for a month.....lol. All that is left to do is the building (a good friend who has all the woodworking tools) and figure out how we are finishing them (I'm holding out for painted white and distressed, Todd is holding out for stained oak).

Enjoy these snowy days!!!!

Oh I wish we could have snow...it would be great even to be snowed in for a few days...then I wouldn't have to drive my carpool!

I'm right here with you waiting for that snow. Maybe it won't be as bad as they're predicting...happens a lot, at least where I'm at. Good luck with your stash busting, I'm working on that (at least a little) as well as UFO busting. You know I'll be here cheering you on ((hugs))

I'm with you. This freezing weather is torture!!

We had a torpedo heater when we lived in the country. I had forgotten about all that...the freezing pipes, making sure wood was chopped.... Our well pump froze one year... fun times, I tell you. lol! I miss it, actually.

And sure, I believe you. No yarn or fabric until your stash is used up??? Sure. Uh-huh. Yep. I believe you. ;)

I think whatever you guys are expecting we have right now. Several schools have snow days and it keeps coming. Small flakes, but lots of them..
I so happy to have somebody joining me on "not buying new fabric" thing, I have lots of plans, but also planning what will I buy after all this is over.. :)

It has been cold here, too. Unusual for Florida. And we don't have cold weather clothes!

It's extremely cold here too. -32C this morning and -42 with windchill. Our heating bill is going to be unreal. It's bright and sunny though so guess I can be thankful for that. Hugs

Although snow isn't in our forecast, it was awfully darn cold last night. I did not want to get out from underneath our down comforter. Hope you stay nice and warm!

It was 12 above today and felt like a heat wave compared to the teens-below-zero we've had lately! Hope you don't get too much snow.

All of your stashes should be good insulation anyhow!
