Sunday silence

Yesterday I had no kids in the house (they were off bowling with their Uncle, Aunt and nephews), no hubby (he was working on a neighbors farm) and nothing to do other than some laundry.

So I got LOTS of sewing time in. After working on my Bears in the Farmhouse blocks, I started putting this quilt together:

Within an hour I had it to this point:

1 more row of colored blocks, and the outer borders and the top will be done. Very quick, very easy - my kind of project. Of course, I had to try it out on Jessie's bed to make sure it would end up the right size. And realized that a mostly white quilt might not be good for on her bed - as Midnight likes to lay on her bed and nap the day away.

Oreo is staying clean - and the last of the mud and poop balls have rubbed off him in the nice clean straw in their pen.

Jessie did want to wash him again yesterday, but it was raining so hard and in the 50's - I didn't want her (or the calf) getting sick. Then she ended up going bowling, so that worked to keep her mind occupied!

Have a great day everyone!
Kris

I really like the simplicity and colors of this quilt; perhaps you could hang it on the wall so Midnight cannot reach it. Quilts make really nice wall art.

The cheerful quilt is one of the prettiest things I've seen today! It sounds like your weekend was blessed. I have to laugh because whenever my girls go out to groom horses in the winter get the horses prettied up, then they bring most of the mud and barnyard back in with them, then the horses go roll in mud immediately.

Mud and poop balls? lol!! There's nothing like mud and poop balls!

Your quilts look great! I agree with your husband that you should make the bear quilt big enough for your bed. It would look awesome!

I wanted to say that I love the bears in the farmhouse very much. This new quilt is beautiful as well. I have exactly the same problem with white quilts in our house because of Salvatore being on the couch and the bed. We were finally outside today working in the yard, my computer is getting some face lift, and I am sorting my fabrics and redoing the sewing corner. Have a great week.

Hi Kris - this is Bettina from germany - your potholder-swap-partner :-)
I'm a new fan of your blog! your quilts look georgeous! Oreo looks so nice and all the straw in the barn, very comfy!
I still hope I'll be able to convince my DH this year to get some chickens...
I love those days when I'm alone in the house or an afternoon in the garden. You can get so many things done in undisturbed time...
See you!
Bettina

Ooowwwwww. Love, love the quilt, Kris! And you are one industrous woman at the sewing machine! I don't know about Midnight, but me? I'd be curled up in that nice clean straw with Oreo, maybe even pick a poop ball off him or two to help Jessie keep him show quality clean! :)

A pretty day to you!

Ana :)
