I've gotten some great fabric lately, on sale as well:
I think these fabrics will make a wonderful 9 patch quilt.....I found some cream at the local quilt shop, on sale.....so......I should be all set. Of course, Jessie saw them and wants a new quilt for her bed. Apparently the flip flop quilt and the lots of boxes quilt that are in progress are too bright for her now!
I realized yesterday morning that I did not put a label on the quilt for Tyler's teacher! So I quick did this one and hand sewed it to the back of the quilt before going to the party.
Which she loved the quilt! What a relief. I'm always worried that someone will not love a present I make as much as I do.
I don't think we have ANY plans for the weekend - other than soccer and the kids have a birthday party to go to on Sunday.
Jessie got accepted for the summer enrichment program sponsored by our local college. It's only for 2-3 weeks the end of July/beginning of August, I think, but we have to pick out her classes now (they can take 3). One of the classes is for math, but it's somehow connected to the Civil War Underground railroad and making the quilt blocks that people used as signals. She thought that one sounded cool, and there was one for science and birds. After I talked to her teacher (to see if anyone else from her class was going - thinking carpooling) she was the only one from her class to get accepted. Which she is apparently fine going off by herself for the time and meeting new people, but this is also going to put a crimp into the summer camps she wants to go to. I haven't mentioned the summer camp dilema to her yet - the enrichment program is WAY cheaper than summer camp:)
Other than that, it has just been the usual here. Waiting for the rain to dry up - if it would just come down at once we'd be fine - but no.....we get a little here, a little there.......ugh.
Have a great weekend!
Kris

The baby quilt is so darn cute. You do so much for people.
Have a great day.

I have seen so many people working on 9-patch blocks lately; I guess they are the new "IN" quilts right now.
Crazy Mom Quilts is having a 9-patch quilt along and Twiddletails is having a 9-patch swap.
I was thinking about participating in the crazy Mom Quilts quilt along but do not have time with all the outdoor things needing to be done. Sewing tends to be put on the back burner this time of year.
Looking forward to seeing how your 9-patch quilt turns out.
I'd like a new quilt for my bed too! Just sayin'...
Rain is with us as well...should make a real mess of tomorrow's soccer! Still, it's spring!
Love the new nine patch block you've made. And the quilt will wind up with just the right person!
A huge CONGRATS to Jessie for selection to the enrichment program. She works so hard in her studies that she certainly deserves this special placement. I know everything will work out well for her with the program and/or camps. She's a trooper and spirited little girl...like her mom, all the way!
Happy weekend. Enjoy no plans that you'll know all you want to do!
Ana :)
I tried to enlarge the picture of the fabric pieces for a better view but no luck. Are they Fig Tree fabrics? Whatever, they look good.
I knew she would love the quilt, it's gorgeous!
Congratulations on your daughter getting accepted in the enrichment program!
Kris, those lovely fabrics will make nice 9 patch blocks. I can never get tired at looking at 9 patch blocks.
I'm always amazed at how much you do get done Kris, with young kids, animals and all.
I'm sure the teacher loved the quilt. I think anyone would, it's beautiful. Love the header at the top...made me grin *VBS* Hugs, Finn
Congratulations on the fun summer enrichment program acceptance! And, boy oh boy those fabrics are yummy. No wonder she can't stick with the one you started before! They're all so beautiful.
I love nine patch blocks, and you actually just reminded me of a stash of them I have that belonged to my great-grandmother....
I really like those nine patch blocks.
Well done on Jessie getting accepted into the enrichment program! Sounds like some interesting classes she can take.
