We have created a MONSTER

Jessie showed Oreo for the first time yesterday......and we have definitely created a MONSTER.

Who would have thought it would take 3 adults and 2 kids to get one little girl and one steer into the ring???

But she enjoyed it tremendously. And we (Todd and I) are sooooooo tired!

She showed in 2 classes, the market steer class and the Wayne County born and bred class. She ended up 3rd in her market steer class (out of 7) and 6th in the Wayne County class (out of 10). Not to shabby for her 1st time in the ring.
All we asked her to do was lead him (and hang onto him), keep his head up and scratch his belly and keep him calm. We didn't want her to set him up (getting his feet square so he looks nice) even though she knows how to do that and has been practicing. We thought it's enough for her first show to just hang onto him. Because he can be a butthead. She quickly figured out when she should be setting him up, and got him set up correctly in both classes.
She came out of the ring after the first class wanting to know when the next show was, where it was and if we could go.

I'm just glad she had a good time and didn't come out of the ring saying I'm NEVER showing a steer again.....

That's awesome, Kris! So good that Jessie placed, but even better that she had a good time. Sounds like she's learned a lot because of all the time you guys spend at home with the children, the animals, with your farming and activities. Made my day!

Great pics and cute video, too! :)

Happy Monday!

Ana :)

She did wonderful! It is great when the first time goes so well. She is learning so many important skills along the way like presenting in front of an audience and showmanship which will serve her well in the years to come.

That is so wonderful!!! I'm glad that she had a good time. It is a wonderful feeling as a mother to see one of your children having so much fun. I think it is great for kids to get into things like that. The boys show a couple of our horses and they just enjoy it so much. We haven't shown them for about a year, too busy building the house...

I'm glad spring has decided to bless you with some warmth and sunshine. We have had some beautiful warm, sunny days during the week, but come the weekend, most of the time is gloomy and damp. All this week warmth and sunshine. Of course!

Hey, I'm hooked and giving you partial credit for that... I LOVE THRIFT stores! I went to one tonight and got some old sheets! I love them! I've also got a few other goodies.

Maybe some day I'll post about my finds. The first of May I'm going with a friend to a HUGE flea market. I'm so excited.

I don't know how all of you do it. I watch our "cattle people" at the fair, and they all seem to have a HUGE staff preparing for a/the show.
Congratulations to all of you!!! I see more - and much higher - placings in your future/s! :^D
