March

I cannot believe it is March. It sure as heck doesn't feel like March yet.

But we managed to keep fairly busy this weekend past. We spent about 3 hours cleaning out the horse barn - cleaning stalls, moving things around, sweeping up hay. All for the horses to decide they didn't like the change and not want to come in at night. So then we had to spend some time convincing them that they really should go in the barn. Ugh. But the barn is clean now so we can bring in pigs, and start working in earnest with Jessie's steers and heifers.

Saturday night we had the Annual Banquet for the fire department. Which was nice as my parents kept the kids for the afternoon and then brought them back to our house and stayed there until we got home. The kids love going to my parents - Tyler especially likes working with Grandpa outside. And Jessie loves shopping/crafting with Grandma.

Sunday morning we were up and at it at 7:00 in the morning. Todd had a bunch of logs that he had cleared out of a friends' farm fields, and we HAD to get them out of there before they are ready to start planting. And it was finally cold enough that he could get in there with a skidloader to lift these logs up. This is about 1/2 of the logs. Now we just need to split and stack them:

He took the kids with him for most of the trips back and forth - so I had some quality sewing time to make 192 half square triangles and quilt this (which is for a friend on the fire department who had their baby a week ago):

I need to find a fabric for the binding which I will sew on by machine tonight and Todd can take it to fire meeting tomorrow night and it is DONE!

I also made 3 dozen blueberry muffins with the intention of freezing some of them to be eaten on here and there for breakfasts, snacks, what have you. Unfortunately, the little people decided they made the perfect snacks, we had some for dinner, and everyone had some on the way out the door this morning and in lunches, and there are about a dozen left and that is it. I guess it shouldn't surprise me when Jessie and Tyler will sit down and eat a whole gallon bag of blueberries in 1 sitting, if I would let them!

Have a great day!

Kris

That is the problem with home baking..you spend ages doing it, get really proud with the results and then within minutes they are gone.
Blueberry muffins are a favourite of ours too lol

Wonderfully productive weekend, Kris! Good as I know the muffins were, I'm not surprised they're just about gone. Homemade is the best!

Whoa! You were busy. I have the same trouble when I bake, hoping to save some for later. It rarely if ever happens.
And the baby quilt is lovely.

You are the woman! we too have logs to split and logs to cut into lumber forour next building project here at the mission. we baked today also, homemade cinnamon rolls. We have one pan to bake for breakfast and the rest to the freezer. Enjoy reading. I love that you are such a great homemaker, we just don't see enough of those these days. God's blessings.

The muffins sounds wonderful! Farm work is hard work but well worth it in the end, don't you think? I love it! Even though I do get tired from time to time...
