Where were you at 12:36 a.m.?

Bet you weren't where I was!

Todd got home from fire practice at 11:00. And one of the cows was in labor. She had trouble last year big time, so we elect to wait up. Which is a good thing, as this calf was so big, we would have lost the calf and probably her if we didn't know she was birthing it.
By midnight, there was no progress, so Todd chases/ropes the cow, ties her to a tree, and we pull the calf. Yes ladies, cross your legs in sympathy pain for the cow. I did.

I am so glad I am not a cow!!!!

Another heifer....big and red and HEALTHY.

Holy Moley! How exciting! But yes, I am glad my wife wasn't a cow also...she'd still be kicking my butt! Anyhow, congrats on the new critter!

Ok, so when I join you in the life of farming, I'm thinking letting the cows breed will be out of the question. Is there such thing as cow birth control??? Or maybe I'll just need to have a convent of cows with no male visitors?

I firmly believe child birth is not natural...I tried it 3 times just to prove my theory.

Poor mama cow...I do feel for her...
Glad the calf is fine though..

Holy smokes! Kris, you're awesome and so is your wonderful farm and family life. Poor cow, but thankfully she had you and the hubby to help her deliver her healthy heifer. Rock out!
