Ohio Winter Storms

Well, we knew it was coming, I just was in denial and didn't expect it quite this quick. The snow started about 10:00 this morning, by the time I went out to lunch at 1:00, the school had announced they were releasing early, I went to Aldi's to stock up on some essentials (they are saying by tomorrow we could have 1-2 feet of snow), finally made it the mile back to work, to turn around and head for home at 2:00. I got home at 4:00 (a drive that normally takes 25 minutes tops - 18 miles). So the kids and I did chores for Todd, brought wood and the groceries in, and now they are outside playing for a little bit.

The kids were doing this while they were supposed to be helping me bring in wood:)
Todd just called, they have had 15+ crashes since 11:00 this morning, both squads are running constantly, so he is staying at the fire station for a while to help out. Which is good, as I can do something fun until dinner, which is going to be Kellie's ham steak and cabbage recipe from her blog (Sugar Creek Farm). Not sure if my kids will eat it, but it looks so yummy and sounds so good on a cold night.

I FINALLY finished my pink lap quilt - I stayed up until 11:00 last night hand sewing the binding, and reinforcing my belief that I do not like that part of quilting. Although I am very pleased with how this one came out:

Tonight it's finish up the last little bit of Tyler's quilt and start on my black and white stars getting it quilted. I have my red white and blue one quilted, as well as my mom's and I'll post a picture of them yet this weekend.

As far as I know, I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow (and I saw when I was in town our bank and grocery store shut down early and are also closed tomorrow due to the weather - how often does that happen???).

It's 24 degrees here and blowing like crazy. I've got a fire going, 2 kids who are playing well together, so I am happy.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

You know something isn't right when it snows in Texas! It did this morning. Only it didn't stick and now it is back up in the 50s.....go figure. That is Texas for you- totally unpredictable.

Stay warm and I pray your hubby is protected and safe while he is out working.
